Where did the time go?

The last time I wrote anything here was in July! That's 4 months ago. Winter came and went and it is almost summer again. My chilli plants have all died and I have learnt not to feel too bad about it. My broccoli and carrot seeds have all germinated. My cucumber fruit is growing bigger. I have started teaching local students online on weekday afternoons, making good use of my essay-writing and poetry teaching skills. I picked up driving again after 10 years. Bumped a curb but oh well.
I can't fit into my hiking pants anymore. I'm surprised at how much that doesn't bother me. Shai has started taking HBP meds. He also went for his first job interview here. I have reconnected with some friends. Lost connection with others. I got to sell my desserts at a food fair for the first time last Sunday. Yes. I sell malay desserts now. The bonafide makcik has upped a level.
The quiet, simple days, we are most grateful for - We wake up and we enjoy a breakfast conversation before I do my gardening and Shai goes off for an online game in his mancave. I have lessons in the morning and afternoon. In between I get lunch ready while he gets house chores done. We spend the late afternoons napping, chilling or catching a movie or two. Evenings go by quickly. I get dinner ready. He feeds the cats. We curl up on the couch with the cats and watch something easy. I'm usually in bed by 10.
We do our walks at least twice a week. I really enjoy being out at the parks and reserves. They're always quiet. I also love dropping by Bunnings and any of the supermarkets. There is always something to get. Soil. Spider spray. Rice crackers. Butter and milk. Tempeh. We live near a huge mall so sometimes we just take a walk inside it and we're happy. Yesterday Shai wanted to drive to Cottesloe and we had fish and chips by the beach. I love our random mid-week dates.
We have really learnt to slow down here. To enjoy the ample time that we have in our hands. There are so many bad things happening around us but so many good things too. I cried a lot during the US Elections. There's hope yet. I can't believe December is coming in 2 weeks. I hope 2021 brings with it new hope - Shai gets a job, I get to register my business, the borders open and we get to go home for a bit. :)

We have started exploring areas outside of Perth. This was a trip we took to the Wheatbelt region in August.
